Nope – This is not one of those ‘new year, new me’ posts declaring that I need to cut out the sugar and jump on a treadmill (to be fair, I should probably do both of those things, but still…). No – This is a post about how excited I am with the things that I am working on this year.
2017 is all about jumping in (with both feet) and going on lots of new adventures. My site Nerd Like You is starting a YouTube channel which I am super excited about! Up to this point, the kind of content NLY has served up has all been written, so this is changing things up somewhat. And not only should it up the ante on the content we produce but it will also hopefully be a lot of fun. Did I mention that I’m excited? Because I am.
Secondly, I am aiming to get my full length fantasy novel (tentatively) titled, The Harvest finished early this year. A lot of love, tired eyes and keyboard abused fingertips has gone into the writing of this book and no matter how it turns out, I love it. I really do. The experience of world building and living with characters in my mind and on the page that I’ve created has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life so far. So yeah, this feels pretty good.
Thirdly, if you follow me on Instagram, you may have picked up on this already (though it hasn’t been super obvious) – I am working on a graphic novel about a Deer Girl. I am not going to go into any more detail about this right now, except to say, that this is one of the most amazing things I have ever worked on. Intrigued yet?
And last of all – I basically plan to just write my butt off all year. Oh and game more (currently addicted to Witcher 3), go to PAX in Seattle and see more of the awesomeness that is Stockholm (Sweden) which is where I currently am (for a little bit).
New year to me, isn’t about making vows to lose weight or be better in some new (tried and failed?) way. It is about embracing who I am and loving myself enough to explore my dreams and work harder to get what I want. So bring it 2017. Let’s have some fun!
